Our Christmas

We spent the 19th of December till Christmas day in Pennsylvania at my parents house. It was VERY VERY COLD. We had fun seeing all the family. We opened gifts twice, once Christmas Eve and then Christmas Morning. My stepmom and stepsisters are all nurses and Morgan & Lindsey had to work on Christmas so we did their gifts Christmas eve then the rest of us did ours Christmas morning. My Dad got a new Harley and I had found fabric here in Mesa about a month ago that had a bright blue bike that looked exactly like the one that he bought so I made him a Harley quilt for Christmas. It was really a combine effort between myself my husband and my mother in law to get it done because I have been so out of it with this pregnancy. But I finished it while I was back at my dads. Everyone made out great with gifts like usual. My parents & Grandparents collaborated and got our car fixed while we were out of town. My grandparents went and took it from our house while we were out of town and then we opened a card Christmas morning saying that they fixed our car and it was waiting for us when we got home. The best Christmas ever since we have been putting off getting it fixed since June. We flew home on Christmas afternoon and it wasn't bad. Security checks were as easy as they can be with a stroller and 4 bags and a 2 1/2 year old, hardly any lines at the airport. We got home and opened gifts Ryan checked out his toys to make sure they were all where they should be and was happy to open gifts that turned out to be cars. Christmas morning we were opening gifts and he didn't want to have anything to do with it. The day after Christmas we made it over to my grandparents house to open more gifts so Christmas for us was a three day event. It was fun to see family however now for the recuperating part getting Ryan back on this time zone and somehow for me to find some energy.

GOOD NEWS

Great news I went to the DR today and all the blood work has come back normal. For all of those who don't know I had my ultrasound last week were we found out the we are having a girl. We are all very excited. That night my Dr called saying that they found something concerning on the ultrasound. They said that the colors in the baby's bowels is a little brighter than they normally like to see and that usually means that the baby could have Down Syndrome. So I went in for the trip screen blood test that afternoon. We got the tests back today saying that everything was normal. that we have a 1 in 4000 chance of the baby having downs. They are still sending us for a level 2 ultrasound next month at a genetics place in phx. He said that should rule that out more that and we can get a better chance to see why I am still bleeding and maybe what is causing the bleeding. So this has been a huge weight lifted off of our shoulders. Sorry if some of you feel left out because we didn't tell very many people because we didn't want to worry everyone before we knew what was really happening. We are packing to still go on our trip tomorrow to my parents in PA for Christmas. It is going to be COLD!!!! Hope that you all have a very Merry Christmas and we will get more pics up when we get home.

Our Christmas Letter

Merry Christmas Everyone

I thought that I better get this written so that maybe you will all get it a day our two after Christmas this year rather than in January. Life in the Matthews household has been a little crazy this year. Ryan is now 2 ½ and a very happy fun child. Ryan was diagnosed a few months ago as Autistic. It has answered a lot of questions and explained a lot of his behaviors. He has been working with therapists since May and has made a lot of progress however we still have a ways to go. Ryan is starting to say a few words like all done, all gone, eese (for please) still no mom or dad. We have started the transition into the public school. Mesa Public Schools take children with disabilities at two year and nine months, so if things keep going the way they have been he will start school towards the end of February.

As many know we have moved out of our house and are living with my in-laws while we try to sell ours. We have gotten a few calls on the house which is good news since it has only been on the market for about a month. We want to move over closer to where we are living now which is Lindsay & Adobe area where the schools will be a little better for Ryan.

Another blessing with living with my in-laws is that we are expecting baby # 2 in May. This pregnancy has been very hard on me. I haven’t been able to eat very much at all and was put on bed rest for a few weeks and lifting restrictions. So with a 2 ½ year old who weighs 37 pounds it’s hard to keep to dr’s orders. As of now everything looks great with baby # 2. We found out today that we are having a baby girl. We are very excited so sometime around May 25th we will have baby Emily Anne Matthews so stay tuned for more on that front.

Blaine is very busy with work. He works for Freedom Communications who owns the Tribune. His divisions dose the Clipper magazine as well as other mail stuff that I’m sure a lot of you get. He is getting to travel more with this job mainly to California where he dose press checks. He makes sure the people printing get color and content correct. It keeps him busy and out of trouble.

We hope everything is going well with all of you. We will keep everyone updated on Ryan and Emily (when she gets here). Hope that you all have a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year.
