Cameron in the Hospital

Pics of Cameron in the hospital they are kind of in order.

I promised pictures of Cameron in the hospital. So here is the story. Tuesday night I went to pick up Cameron from my in laws house and noticed that he was a little stuffy but didn't think anything of it. Wednesday he was even more stuffy and wasn't happy. He didn't really sleep the night before he slept a few minuets in his swing. We got him some stuff you plug into the wall to help him breath. It didn't really work because he ended up back in his swing to sleep. I posted about Cameron being sic on facebook and my step mom who is an RN in the ER told me to watch for a fever. Up to this point he still had no fever. Thursday morning at 4am Cameron woke up not very happy and I took his temp under his arm and it was 100.8 so I told Blaine that we needed to take him in. So we got Ryan up and took him to Blaine's parents house. Then it was off to Banner Desert Children's hospital. We got in and didn't even have to wait 5 minuets before they called us back. They took Cameron" temp in his little bum and it was 102.2. They said that they were going to do a full work up on him. After a chest X-Ray, blood work, a catheter, nose suction, and an IV we just hurried sat and waited for results.
After a few minuets they moved us to our own room in the ER and that was really nice because we could close the door and it was a little quieter.
The Dr came in and talked to us and said that he has a cold and a UTI.(Urinary Tack Infection). He said that it is very common in children who are not circumcised. But Cameron is circumcised so he said that most likely the way that he got it was once when he had a poopie diaper and blew out his drawers he got some poopie on his little pee pee and the bacteria traveled up the urethra and caused an infection. He said that because it is so uncommon and he is so little that they where going to keep him for at least 48 hours and give him some strong meds to make sure that it didn't turn into a kidney infection. He said that there was no way to stop the infection. Even if you change a stinky diaper as soon as he dose it he could still get the infection. He gave him a steroid because he vocal cords where swollen from his cold making it hard for him to breath.
We finally got a bed around 3 that afternoon and then the fun started. They gave him the rest of his meds and tried to make him as comfortable as possible. The nurses and Doctors where great. Te nice thing is we had our own room so I was able to stay with him all the time. The bad thing is Cameron couldn't of waited till this fall when the new building was built because there was no Internet access but they said when the new building is built that they would have it then. Wasn't doing me any good. Cameron wanted to be help a lot and kept hitting himself in the face and with his IV so they put a little sock over the IV so he would stop scratching himself. He was such a little trooper. After we got into our room Blaine went to work for a while since there was nothing that he could do at the hospital. After work Blaine and his dad came to the hospital to give Cameron a blessing. Gary anointed and Blaine gave him a wonderful blessing. Cameron did pretty good that night with sleeping I think the Drugs helped. The next morning our DR came in and said that he was very impressed that he didn't have a fever all night and that all of his blood work came back normal. No flu (including Swine Flu) and nothing else seemed to be wrong. We where just waiting on his urine culture to come back. He said that as long as they didn't grow anything that there was a very small possibility we could go home that night. I wasn't getting my hopes up. Until heard from the Doctor I was holding everything together as long as there where people around but that night was a hard night for me. Blaine and I where talking on the way home saying that the way our luck has been the past couple of years we where both waiting for the other shoe to drop. Neither one of us said anything while we where in the hospital but we kept waiting for them to come back with something really really bad. Thank goodness that didn't happen. I am so thankful for all the prayers and for all the support that we received during this hard time.
I am happy to report that later that afternoon the Doctor called our room and said that we could go home. I was so happy I started crying. He was shocked at how fast he turned around for having such a high fever and being so sick to being just a little sick. I know that it was the power of the priesthood and all of the prayers that where in Cameron's behalf.
Cameron ha a really pretty good night last night. He is eating like crazy since he hasn't eaten much the past few days. He did gain a pound in the hospital but I am sure that is because of all the fluid they gave him. He is still not 100% but he is smiling and talking again. He is very happy to have his hands back because he loves to suck on them and study them. Thank you again for all of your support.
