Christmas Day

I was a little worried how Christmas morning was going to go this year. Last year Ryan didn't want anything to do with opening any of his presents. Blaine and I ended up opening everything and then he eventually started to play with his new toys. This year went a lot better. I woke up around 6:30 with heartburn surprise surprises. Ryan had been getting up the few days before around 7 so I figured that it would be the same this morning . NOT the way it happened. My grandparents came over at 8:30 and e were going to open gifts then have breakfast. Ryan had just barley gotten out of bed when my grandparents got here. Blaine and I kept wondering when he was going to get up because we wanted to open our gifts because nether one of us knew what we got each other and this was the first time in 4 years. Ryan came downstairs sat an the couch and really didn't want to do anything. So we let him wake up a little and he seemed like he was ready to go. Most of his gifts this year I put into gift bags so he didn't have to tear any paper. He got a little excited so I decided to give him some of the ones that were wrapped. Ryan got two big presents this year that was saved for him to open till the end otherwise we wouldn't have gotten through the rest of the gifts. My grandparents have Wii at there house and Ryan loves to play it and is really good at bowling. So the beginning of November I found one and hid it till Christmas. My grandparents got him two other controllers as well as controller covers. So I let him open the bag that had the controller in it and he just gave me this look like what is this for. Then he opened the bag with the controller covers in it and thought that it was cool because it was green. But he had this look on his face like what do you want me to do with this. Then he opened the bag with he Wii in it and got really excited. We told him that it was Ryan's and that we could play bowling on the big TV. Lets just say Blaine couldn't set it up fast enough. This was big gift #1.

Big gift #2: Just within the last few months Ryan loves trains. we got him a little train set from Ikea that has magnets on the ends of the trains with a little wood track. So I found this rain table at Toys R Us that we got a really great deal on however that is a story in itself. Lets just say we got $175 train table for $80.00. My parents got this for Ryan we got it on Black Friday night and we had it hidden at Blaine's dad's shop until Ryan went to bed Christmas Eve. I got a bicycle bag to wrap it in because it was so big and heavy. We had it set up in front of the bathroom door downstairs so to him he thought that it was just a decoration on the door since it was taller than him. After the Wii was set up and he played a round of bowling I said Ryan oh no we forgot a present come over here and look. So we walked over to me and said look what is this. He said it's a door. So I showed him how to pull the plastic and he kept pulling and pulling till he saw that outside of the box. I have this all on video but I haven't gotten a cable to transfer things from my video camera to the computer yet so that will have to come later. His eyes got so big and he was so excited when he saw his 100 + train piece set. He wanted to take it up to his room right then. We convinced him to let us finish eating fist then it it took Blaine and I 2 hours to set it up. He loves it. It takes up all the extra room in his bedroom but he doesn't care at all. His cars use it as well as his trains. Thanks to Nana & Papa Bird for that. Next time we have decided that if you want to get him a gift with a half of million pic es that you need to come and set them up.

It looks like you had a wonderful Chistmas. I think the best part is watching the kids faces as they open their gifts.
